Rest in Peace Patricia , what a great woman she was.. she was in my care for 7 and 1/6 years . She was just a woman who did not look at what colour you were or where you came from .We just clicked . That explains how caring she was to all humans. RIP Pat ..

Sadly Patricia has now passed away. She leaves behind a great legacy of justice, fairness, decency and respect for other human beings that has influenced so many including myself. May she rest in peace. Alasdair

To suggest that a few minor incidents flashed around the world were the reasons the northern Ireland state almost came crumbling down is ridiculous. The state was completely rotten ever since its foundation, it was only a matter of time before violence took over from peaceful demonstration. Where there is no justice there is violence. I agree the IRA slowed downed the basic human rights that would have had to be granted, especially after Britain joined the EEC, they would have been forced by European parliament to do this, I do feel though that if it were up to the sectarian bigots that ran/run that state, then catholics would still be "peacefully" demonstrating for their rights. When leaders of certain parties, now in power, are calling the pope the anti christ and calling for all catholics to be burned, referring to 35% of his own population as terrorist bog dwellers, well that just says it all. Do you really think his kind would hand over power peacefully?

Dear Editor,
I find that this site has many inaccuracies in relation to the squatting in Caledon in 1968. I just happened to be browsing on your site when I came across this archive, expecting to read what my grand-mother, father and great uncle had told me many times before about the squatting, they were involved in, you can imagine my alarm and disbelief when I read what has been submitted on your site. I had assumed that Mr. Currie, presemably being an educated man, would have at least have been able to remember the name Patsy Gildernew, as being the brother of Mrs. Goddfellow who squatted in Caledon, and not Phelim, who he innacurately records. Surely if this was such a pivitol moment in Mr. Currie's career and indeed life he would not make such silly and inaccurate mistakes that would in essence re-write the history books. I would appreciate if this could be brought to the attention of Mr. Currie and corrected with out haste.

Regards,
Louise Gildernew
